What are your impressions of Baselworld for the three brands for which you are responsible within the SWISS Replica Watches UK Group?

I am very happy with the performance of my three brands. All three have experienced growth in orders and sales here. They are even showing more growth than I expected, so I can’t complain.

How do you divide your time between these three brands?

I don’t divide it equally because it depends on the needs of the brands. I am currently spending a lot of time at Jaquet Droz for various reasons. It’s a smaller brand with fewer points of sale and it is present in fewer countries and has less marketing activities. Over the long term the rest of my time will be split almost equally between Blancpain and Breguet, although last year I gave a little more attention to Breguet. But physically I spend more time at Blancpain because it is the closest for me.

Do you also feel closer to Blancpain spiritually?

A little bit, but it’s more of a coincidence with the divers’ watches because Blancpain didn’t start making divers’ Fake Watches UK because I like diving! The brand has been producing them for a number of years and I got my first diving qualification at the age of 12.

The association with Lamborghini was also a coincidence. We were looking for a sports partnership that we could associate with mechanical watches and Lamborghini happened to be launching their racing series. It also went beyond mere cobranding and just producing a joint watch. It wasn’t simply because I like Lamborghini, although once I got behind the wheel of one of the cars it did help me to make the decision. But I didn’t look to create a story around it in order to do it. It should come naturally. I couldn’t have done the same partnership with Breguet, for example.

There is a big difference between the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe model you are presenting this year and the X Fathoms model you launched in 2011. Is this Blancpain’s acknowledgement of a trend towards the more classical and understated models?

When we designed the X Fathoms model, we weren’t necessarily looking to produce a big cheap Fake Watches UK but the challenge was to incorporate all the instrument functions that we wanted to and still ensure that the finished product looked like a watch. The original Fifty Fathoms has always been a classic watch that works very well.

What is your outlook for the coming year?

The world has been a lot more volatile over the past few years than it was, say, ten years ago. And you never know what is going to happen in the currency markets. Last year we managed to achieve growth in Swiss franc terms without any price increases. For the first three months all three brands have experienced better growth than the same period last year and there are no signs of this slowing down.

Its power of attraction is further heightened by the absence of a dial, while a highly original transparent date disk bearing fully visible numerals lends an even more modern touch to the overall effect.

While their base is applied on an anthracite-colored dial, the Superluminova-enhanced hour-markers are extended to the point where they appear to be levitating around the rim of the date disk. The generously sized 45 mm grade 5 titanium case with its layered construction is topped by its famous twelve-sided bezel, while black PVD inlays are strategically placed between the various elements to create an even more powerful effect. While the titanium features alternating polished surfaces and satin-brushed side plates, the sapphire crystal bears the metallized Corum logo. The equally transparent caseback offers its own perspective on the CO 9000 movement, and particularly on the finely openworked, Corum-personalized oscillating weight. The case also boasts a water resistance to 300 meters. Davidoff may take everyone by surprise at Basel: the brand has put almost all its energy into a single collection, created from scratch, that already features a number of models! It’s a daring move: nobody expected a diving watch from the Swiss Replica Watches brand.

The Velocity Diver, as it is called, reflects the passionate, adventurous nature of Zino Davidoff, the brand’s founder. Originally from a humble Ukrainian family, Davidoff travelled the world with a particular penchant for Southern and Central America. He then brought together the best of the different crafts encountered on his travels, whilst in the meantime, his family had moved to Geneva, in 1911.

The Velocity Diver is a natural extension of this trajectory. It’s based on the experience the brand has built up in watchmaking since 2008, when it first appeared at Baselworld, and adds a blend of elegance, flamboyance and classicism to the house style. Not to mention technique: the Velocity Diver is a full-blown diver’s watch, waterproof to a depth of 300 metres. This makes it the first watchmaking creation by the brand to feature technical prowess as the priority in terms of specifications.

Technical – and stylish

All the technical prerequisites for a diving watch are present, from the single-directional rotating bezel to the large screw-down crown. The SuperLumiNova finish on the three hands ensures all the important functions are readable in any circumstances, even in the darkest conditions. The steel or rubber strap on which the watch is mounted can withstand every seagoing condition imaginable.

Instead of the openwork sides that characterise the rest of the Velocity collection, the Diver watches have closed rubber flanks. As well as making the watch extra waterproof, they also help ensure it absorbs any impacts, thus minimising the latter’s consequences. The assembly is housed in a round 42 mm steel case, with alternating satin and polished finishes.

The watch is powered by a Soprod automatic movement, the oscillating weight of which is decorated with the Davidoff logo. The Velocity Diver will come in three different versions: Black, Night Dive and Silver, featuring black, blue and silver dials respectively. Davidoff will be offering a choice of steel or rubber strap for each.
